Themed play is the ticket to exploring and understanding life. Using familiar connotations children are given the opportunity to place themselves in daily situations; filling the car with gas, steering a boat, routine procedures enable children to explore the world from their own perspective. It is the small, well thought out details that trigger imaginations, for example, the addition of a credit card slot on the gas pump, that help encourage organizational skills. 

In addition, the presence of an owl, a parrot or an iguana, breaks open new thought processes and by sharing these thoughts and ideas stimulates language and the ability to communicate.
