Balancing & Climbing
So basic, yet so important
They are among the most basic of playground features, but, in terms of development, they are also among the most vital. A somersault bar or a stepping pod may not look like much, but when children play on them, they are two of the best contributors to child development throughout childhood.
Balance cannot be taught, but it can be developed – it is important in just about every aspect of life. Great athletes are often defined by their sense of balance, a young mother carrying her child automatically counter-balances for safety, an elderly person out shopping relies on it to safely enter and exit the escalator. Balancing also helps train the eyesight and the child’s ability to concentrate. When climbing, a child gets both a sense of achievement and cross-coordination skills that will eventually help them learn to read. Basic equipment that is beautifully simple.
