KOMPAN Partners with City of Albany to build new playground at Madison Avenue Park

Albany — September 13, 2018   Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan continues the execution of her long-term plan of renovating parks in every neighborhood with an improvement plan for Madison Avenue Park. Playground manufacturer KOMPAN will help facilitate this renovation with a $100,000 donation of new playground equipment.  Renderings of the proposed playground will be presented to the public at the Meet, Munch, & More 2018 event.  This interactive community event will be held on Sunday, September 16th from 1:30-4:30pm at Madison Avenue Park.

“The replacement of the playground equipment at the Madison Avenue Park is another example of my administration’s commitment to revitalizing parks in every neighborhood,” said Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan.  “Thank you to KOMPAN for helping enhance this park by donating and installing the new playground equipment.”

Revitalizing Albany’s playgrounds and parks creates wonderful spaces for citizens to come together, igniting the community.  Reaction to the improvement plan has been overwhelmingly positive.

“The installation of this new playground equipment at Madison Park, on Ontario and Madison, will assure that the kids of the 10th Ward can have even more fun in a safer environment and provide enjoyable exercise opportunities for adults and senior citizens,” said Owusu Anane, 10th Ward Councilman.  “This investment by Mayor Sheehan demonstrates a commitment to ensure that Pine Hills remains a great place to raise a family. Thank you KOMPAN for donating and installing the new equipment. I would also like to thank everyone involved in this effort to assure that our parks remain a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone.”

“Pine Hills Neighborhood Association (PHNA) and its committee Pine Hills Improvement Group (PHIG) are thrilled that KOMPAN has chosen Madison Park in Midtown Pine Hills to donate our new playground!” said PHNA President Virginia Hammer.  “Midtown Pine Hills is in the crossroads of Albany, and Madison Park has the potential to become a gem for the entire community.  KOMPAN’s generous donation and the decision to feature Madison Park is a huge step toward reaching that potential and creates the opportunity to make Madison Park the heart of Midtown Pine Hills and the City of Albany.  Pine Hills Neighborhood Association and Pine Hills Improvement Group thank KOMPAN for choosing Madison Park and thanks Mayor Kathy Sheehan and Recreation Commissioner Jonathan Jones for their support.”

“The City of Albany's decision to improve and invest in the refurbishing of the playground at Madison Park goes well beyond the new KOMPAN Playground Equipment planned,” said Sgt. (Ret.) Leonard Ricchiuti, Executive Director of the Albany Police Athletic League (PAL).   “This is an investment made for the benefit of our children and our neighborhood.  It's a commitment to maintain a viable quality of life in our All American City environment.  We at PAL are excited to offer our youth participants the opportunity to explore and play in such a wonderful dedicated space. We would like to thank Recreation Commissioner Jonathan Jones and the City of Albany for their commitment and endeavors on behalf of our youth and community. ”
