Dallas —
Flag Pole Hill Park Playground is the City of Dallas's "first true all-abilities playground" according to the Dallas Park & Recreation Director, Willis Winters. The inclusive playground not only offers opportunities for physical development, but cognitive development as well. Users are able to graduate between play structures as they progress, motivating people of all ages to play, "That idea makes it to where you can be a three-year old out here, and you can be a 25-year-old and still want to go out and play" said Jordan Spieth.
Flag Pole Hill Playground was designed to be more than just a playground, but also a place where the community can come together. Adam McGough, Dallas City Councilmember, said, "That's what's exciting about this. It's getting people of all walks of life, coming together, playing together, learning together, and spending time outside."
The all-inclusive playground may the first of its kind in Dallas, but it won't be the last, "I'm hoping this will be the catalyst for us to do similar projects like this throughout the rest of our city", Winters stated.
