Welcome to the KOMPAN E-Newsletter June 2010 Edition

In this issue we feature a youth center in Los Angeles that combines a compelling program with an exciting renovated sports site. It takes a lot of committed individuals and organizations to make a venture like this happen, benefitting kids in the area. It is also a story about quality. About the importance of expecting and providing the best in both program and space when you make changes in underserved areas. The Lennox Sheriff’s Youth Center, LA84 Foundation, Nike and A Better LA recently joined forces to make such an initiative happen. Most of all, it is a story about creating a great place for youth to go that provides fun things to do, and learning opportunities in a safe and supportive environment.

Included in this issue, you will also discover a short discussion of a recent play report on children, families and play that has been featured on the social networking sites. It has some interesting findings for designers and advocates of play environments. What do kids really like to do these days?
